Kitesurfing
A 25-minute drive away is the shallow waters of the Mirnser Klif, a great location for kitesurfing.
Especially with east, south and west winds, it is a very popular location for Dutch and foreign kiters. The kite zone is clearly marked on an information board and there are buoys placed in the water by the Dutch Kite Association.
For spectators, the kite sport is impressive, a wide variety of colourful kites and jumping kiters on the water.
There is also plenty to experience around the IJsselmeer such as taking a walk, through the Leantsjes (lanes) to the old Rijster forest. Cyclists can enjoy many cycle paths and routes through the rolling and hilly landscape of Gaasterland.
